My STAR FROM WESTBRIDGE CHAPTER ONE

MY STAR FROM WESTBRIDGE💞

Chapter One

The school bell chimed, signaling the end of another eventful day at Westbridge High. Students gathered in clusters, filling the halls with chatter and excitement. At the center of it all stood James Carter—the school’s star basketball player and the reigning MVP of the year.

He took a step closer to Zara Reynolds, the shortest yet undeniably the most beautiful girl in their class. Her hazel eyes flickered with curiosity as James leaned in, brushing a soft kiss against her forehead.

A collective “Awwwn” erupted from the crowd.

James and Zara—the couple that once thrived on bickering like cat and mouse—had become the most adored pair in school. Their love story had been an unexpected twist, one that turned rivalry into an unbreakable bond.

James took her hand, intertwining their fingers as they strolled through the hallway. The other students instinctively parted, creating a pathway for them, their presence commanding attention.

They made their way to the cafeteria, where James ordered their usual—two vanilla ice cream cones. As they sat down, Zara rubbed his hands with her cold fingers, her eyes gleaming with tenderness.

“James, thank you for loving me,” she murmured.

James chuckled, warmth spreading through him. “And thank you for accepting my love… and for loving me in return.”

Their gazes locked, a silent understanding passing between them.

As they sat in the cafeteria, enjoying their ice cream, Zara took a small bite and frowned.

“Babe, this ice cream tastes different today. I don’t like it,” she said, scrunching her nose.

“Oh, sorry about that,” James replied, then playfully ran his fingers through her neatly styled hair, messing it up on purpose.

“James!” Zara gasped, glaring at him. “You just ruined my taste!”

James smirked. “Sorry,” he said, snapping his fingers teasingly.

Zara huffed, but the small smile tugging at her lips betrayed her.

After finishing their ice cream, James squeezed her hand. “Come on, let’s head to the library. We still have that history test tomorrow.”

Zara groaned but smiled, knowing he was right. “Fine, but you’re explaining all the boring parts.”

James laughed, leading her toward the library as the golden afternoon light streamed through the school windows, casting a warm glow over Westbridge High.

As they stepped into the quiet library, the scent of books and polished wood surrounded them. James led Zara to their favorite corner, a cozy spot near the window where sunlight streamed in softly. He pulled out a chair for her before settling across from her.

Zara opened her history textbook, flipping through the pages halfheartedly. “Ugh, I can’t wait to be done with high school,” she murmured, resting her chin on her palm.

James grinned, twirling a pencil between his fingers. “Same here. But I know exactly what I want next.”

Zara tilted her head. “Oh? Let me guess… basketball?”

James chuckled. “Obviously. I want to go pro—play in the NBA, travel the world, and make a name for myself.” His eyes gleamed with excitement. “I want people to hear ‘James Carter’ and think of greatness.”

Zara smiled, watching the passion in his eyes. “And you will. You’re already the best player at Westbridge. Just imagine what you’ll do on a bigger stage.”

James leaned forward. “And you? Dr. Zara Reynolds, huh?”

She nodded, a soft determination in her expression. “Yeah. I want to be a doctor—one of the best. I want to help people, save lives.” She sighed, staring at her hands. “I know it’s going to be tough, but I’m ready.”

James reached over, taking her hand in his. “I have no doubt you’ll do it. You’re the smartest person I know.”

Zara laughed. “And you’re the most supportive.”

James smirked. “Well, I kinda have to be. Who else will take care of me when I break a bone on the court?”

Zara rolled her eyes playfully. “So I’m your future doctor now?”

“More like my future everything,” James said, his voice softer now.

Zara felt her cheeks warm, but she didn’t look away. Instead, she squeezed his hand. “And you’re mine.”

For a moment, they just sat there, lost in each other’s dreams and promises, until Zara cleared her throat. “Okay, enough romance. Let’s actually study before I fail this test.”

James laughed. “Fine, fine. But if you pass, you owe me another ice cream date.”

Zara smirked. “Deal.”

To be continue.
