More Than Just Friends (High School Romance)Ep1

CHAPTER ONE

New Beginnings at St. George High School

The gates of St. George High School stood tall and proud, flanked by red-brick walls that spoke of tradition and excellence. The air was crisp, carrying the scent of freshly cut grass and autumn leaves. Students bustled around in their neatly pressed uniforms—navy-blue blazers, white shirts, and striped ties—filling the morning with laughter, chatter, and the occasional hurried footsteps of latecomers.

Vee stepped out of the sleek black car, her polished shoes meeting the pavement with quiet confidence. Her uniform fit her perfectly, her dark brown hair cascading in loose waves over her shoulders. She adjusted the strap of her bag, her eyes sweeping over the sea of unfamiliar faces. The moment she stepped into the school grounds, a ripple of curiosity spread.

“That’s her,” someone whispered.

“The best student in the state?”

“She looks like a model.”

A group of boys standing near the entrance straightened up, their conversations halting as they stole glances at her. Some of them exchanged nudges, eyes following her every step. Even those who tried to act indifferent found themselves sneaking second looks. It wasn’t just her academic reputation that made her stand out—it was the effortless way she carried herself, a quiet confidence that seemed untouchable.

Vee, however, paid no attention to the stares. She had transferred here for a reason—to focus, to excel, to be more than just the girl everyone talked about. She walked forward, blending into the sea of students, determined to find her way on her own terms.

Meanwhile, down the hallway, William made his way towards the library, a book tucked under his arm. Tall, dark-skinned, and effortlessly handsome, he had an air of mystery around him. Unlike the other boys, he wasn’t caught up in the excitement of the new student. He was an introvert, a quiet observer of the world. While others spent their time gossiping, he preferred to get lost in books, away from the noise of high school drama.

His long strides carried him swiftly through the corridor. His dark eyes were focused ahead, lost in thought—until, suddenly, he collided with someone.

The impact was gentle but unexpected.

Vee staggered back slightly, her books slipping from her grasp. William instinctively reached out, steadying her with one hand while catching one of the falling books with the other. For a brief moment, their eyes met—hers a warm shade of brown, his deep and unreadable.

A slow hush seemed to settle around them.

“I—uh—sorry,” Vee said, blinking up at him.

William swallowed, his fingers tightening around the book before handing it back to her. “It’s fine,” he muttered, stepping back.

There was something in his voice—detached, unreadable. But there was also something in his eyes, a flicker of something he wasn’t ready to name.

Vee took the book, her fingers brushing against his for the briefest second. She felt an odd flutter in her chest, but before she could say another word, William had already moved past her, disappearing into the library.

She exhaled, staring after him.

The hallway came back to life—whispers, giggles, and curious glances filling the space once again.

And just like that, the first day at St. George High had become far more interesting than Vee had expected.
